Just keep your change!

Hi GABbers,

I hope everybody's doing well. Is it just me or are the blogs getting more interesting?

Well, I want to write this blog about saving change. Any change I get after making a purchase during the day I put in a jar. You know, if you save your change it really adds up over time! In just two months I have saved almost $20.00. To me, that's a lot.

I am going to keep adding to my change and see how much I can save in one year. I am just curius. I did the math and figured that if I save only $15.00 every two months it would add up to $90.00 in a year. Let's be honest; that's not much. But at least the money wasn't spent on little things like gum or candy or something I really don't need. I could even give it away to a good cause.

What do you all think? Imagine if we all saved our change for a year and put our money together to give to a good cause. We'd have a lot. But what am I thinking? We'll probably be spending it on school!

Anyway, looking forward to reading everyone's new post. By the way, does anyone know when we are having anothor teleconference?

Hey Gwen, I love the idea about seeing how much you save in change alone in one year. I am actually going to see about how much I get too. Normally I come home everyday and put my wallet down my car keys and any change I have goes right into a little piggy bank I have right need to my bed. And normally after a few months I empty it and take it to the bank. Last time I had about 32 dollars not to bad, remember it was mainly pennies. Give me a heads up on how much you saved.

I do exactally what you are talking about. Everytime I see some change laying around or have extra in my pocket I put it in a big jar I have. I have counted the money once and it was about 200 dollars. I was really surprised I have been saving up this time for about 2 years and I plan on counting it out in a couple of weeks and using the money as laundry money at school. I think this is a great way to save without even having to think about it.

OK, Steven, do you really have an actual PIGGY bank?? Just checking:)

I do the change thing also. Whenever I use cash I never use change; so if something is $3.02 I always use $4.00 so that I will have more change.

I use that money for FUN money every 3 months and its usually around a hundred bucks!

So I finally counted my change, actually just the quarters, there was $35.00 just in quarters I thought that was pretty good. I put the rest of the money back for now and will count that when I decide I need some extra cash.

Hey Gwen, I know exactly what you mean. I have been saving my change ever since middle school then I deposited it into a bank account once I was old enough to open a account under my own name. The change that I had been saving really helped me out when times where rough or when I really wanted something that my parents would not buy. I stopped after a while but I think i will buy a big piggy bank from the dollar store and start saving the change again. Thanks...for the motivation!

So since there is not really any new blog posts it is kind of hard to comment but I am writing my next research paper on loan traps. I didn't really realize how many scams go on and how many companies try to take advantage of people especially young people its really crazy and kind of scary to think about. Just be careful and really watch out for what you sign up for.
